Chiropractors and Osteopaths treat problems with joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they have on the nervous system and the rest of the body. Working on all the joints of the body, concentrating particularly on the spine. They use their hands to make often gentle, specific adjustments (another word for manipulation) to improve the efficiency of the body and release it's natural healing ability.
Rob, our osteopath, is trained to offer Photobiomodulation (PBM) or Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT).. This is a laser or LED light therapy that improves tissue repair (skin wounds, muscle, tendon, bone, nerves), reduces inflammation and reduces pain wherever the beam is applied. This may be suggested to aid your recovery.
They can all also offer you shockwave treatment, which can be discussed in your consultation.

Sports Therapy aims to alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissue during physical activity.

Our Sports Therapists can offer a full injury assessment and have various treatment options available.

Sports massage tends to be a deeper and more focused massage, and often incorporates a combination of others techniques involving stretching, toning, trigger points therapy, cupping or instrument assisted releases. The pressure can always be tailored to you and your preferences.

Injury rehabilitation may also include a bespoke rehab programme designed for your specific injury or to aid your recovery, for example, after surgery.

This treatment is not just for the sports person, anyone can benefit from sports massage, including people in physically demanding jobs and those not quite so obvious strains of daily life (occupational, emotional and postural stress may produce many similar characteristics to sports injuries).

The main goal of therapy is to bring optimum performance and to provide injury-free training and minimise post event injuries using a host of approaches alone or in combination.

Shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a revolutionary non-invasive technology used to treat painful and resistant tendon (and other) problems. The treatment involves powerful acoustic shockwaves passing through the skin to the affected area. Shockwave therapy can be very successful in patients who have failed to respond to conservative treatment of tendon pain. It will form the important first step to restoring strength in a degenerate tendon and returning to improved function.

As we get used to the processes and procedures with the new shockwave device, we are offering it great value prices.
We can also offer packages that offer a discount for purchasing 3 treatments. To purchase a package you must speak to our receptionist. Payment in full in advance is required.

How does ESWT work?
The shockwaves that are produced by the machine are generated by compressed air inside a hand-held applicator. When the applicator is placed on the surface of the skin the impulses are delivered through the skin as a shockwave that spreads inside the injured tissue as a ‘radial’ wave. These radial shockwaves initiate an inflammation-like response in the injured tissue that is being treated. This prompts the body to respond naturally by increasing blood circulation, the number of blood vessels and therefore metabolism in the injured tissue. This accelerates the body’s natural healing process by increasing cell generation and dissolving calcium deposits.

Scientific studies have shown shockwave can effectively:·
Reduce pain in tendon and bone tissue·
Increase blood flow to bone-tendon junctions
Regulate cellular inflammation
Increase activity and health of bone and tendon cells
Conditions recommended for treatment with ESWT

Calcific Tendonitis Shoulder
Trochanteric Bursitis (lateral hip pain)
Patella Tendinopathy
Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
Achilles Tendinopathy
Plantar Fascitis
Medial Tibial Periostitis (shin splints)

Most conditions respond within three to five treatments, performed at weekly intervals (ideally 6-10 days apart); on your first visit you will be assessed and if it is safe to do so, you will receive your first shockwave therapy session . Each treatment session takes about 20 minutes.

After spending most of his former life in the arts, primarily as a full time musician, Rob decided he needed a new challenge. Having always been interested in the human body and how it all strings together, training to be an Osteopath seemed a natural choice.

Rob has always believed that a holistic approach to treatment offers the individual the best opportunity to return to health and although Osteopathy’s main aim is to treat physical dysfunction, it also acknowledges that psychological well-being plays a vital role in both dysfunction and the recovery process.

During his training, Rob also gained a diploma in Sports Massage.

Additionally, Rob is trained in Medical Acupuncture, Kinesiology Taping and Photobiomodulation Therapy(PBMT) which uses light to help encourage tissue repair and reduce pain and inflammation. Also, he has recently started his training in Cranial Osteopathy and is committed to furthering his professional development in order to give his patients the best care that he can.

In his spare time, Rob enjoys listening to music and still composes and plays when inspiration flourishes. The environment and reducing his carbon footprint have also become an important part of his life and it is those issues, along with a few others, which have finally prompted him to go Vegan after many years as a vegetarian.

Rob is a registered practitioner with The General Osteopathic Council

Ellie first became interested in chiropractic after receiving treatment from Anna as a teenager! She was suffering from chronic back pain and whiplash following a road traffic accident. She had lower back pain and neck pain with headaches that no amount of stretching or painkillers could get on top of. A couple of sessions later and feeling much better, an idea was born; Ellie decided this was the career she wanted to pursue. Upon graduation Ellie was fortunate enough to be offered an Associate position at an award-winning teaching clinic in Aberdeenshire. The owner of the clinic had a special interest in pregnancy and paediatrics and in fact taught many courses on these subjects. Ellie was able to gain valuable experience in treating many people, not just the pregnant and paediatric populations. She has seen a variety of people, ages and conditions. Her youngest patient was 2 days old with her eldest being 92 years! She has since completed a further degree gaining a Masters in Paediatric Musculoskeletal Health and graduating with a distinction. Ellie is excited to be back to her home county, treating and getting to know the local community. We are absolutely delighted to welcome her back to where her journey started.
